guide for bands, concerts, and shows
We welcome you and are excited to work with you! The Conservatory has successfully hosted many bands and music groups in our space. Keep in mind we are a wedding & event venue - not a music venue so as a band you'll need to plan for the following:
Guidelines for Bands/concerts/shows:
- The band needs to 'run sound' and provide all sound equipment. The Conservatory does not have a sound booth, sound equipment, or tech staff to run sound. The Conservatory does provide basic power but we do not assist with anything sound, tech, or A/V related.
- Equipment: Please bring all sound and lighting equipment including extension cords, black floor-safe tape, and any other equipment needs.
- Lighting: The Conservatory does not have band or performance lighting. Please plan on brining this. We can provide a quote for this type of lighting from our A/V partners - please email us today for quote.
- Video: The Conservatory does not have in-house video, projection, or screens. We can quote this for you - please email this us for a quote.
- House Sound: There is no 'house-sound' at The Conservatory - please plan on bringing these items or work with your client on ordering these.
- Internet: We do have free wireless internet, but we can not guarantee that it can it will be 'strong' enough for live streaming or other tech needs. Please plan on bringing a hot spot for live streaming or other internet needs beside basic downloads, Spotify, etc.
- Weddings: For weddings - if you as the band are providing music for the ceremony it'll be important to know all que's so that you can play the correct songs at the correct times. Please work with the wedding couple on this. Also, the band should provide all microphone needs (mic stand, lapel mic as needed, etc) for the ceremonies. There is no 'house-sound' at The Conservatory.
- Dressing Rooms/Break Rooms: We do not have dressing rooms at The Conservatory so we encourage you to plan a break to change or you may use our restrooms. The building does have a dressing room/break room area but as we do not own this room, there would be a fee for your client to pay. Please discuss that with them.
Guidelines for our clients/wedding couples/non-profits:
- The band needs to 'run sound' and provide all equipment. If they can not provide all sound, lighting, or other A/V equipment then please feel free to email The Conservatory for a quote form our A/V partners.
- Emcee (MC)/Weddings: Almost all weddings - have some sort of of MC that will introduce the group for the grand entrance, introduce toasts, and make announcements though-out the night. This is typically the DJ, but if you are not having a DJ you can then check with the band to see if there is someone in the band that understands weddings that can help with this, if not, then having a family member or friend MC is another option. Please work with the band to borrow their mics for the MC and for toasts.
House sound: There is no 'house-sound' at The Conservatory - if you wish to have recored music for the ceremony, microphones for the officiant/toast, and other A/V needs please work with your band on this or you can email The Conservatory to request a quote for these items from our A/V providers.
Dressing Rooms/Break Rooms: We do not have dressing rooms at The Conservatory so please work with the band on their needs. Some bands have contracts that require dressing rooms or break rooms, if this is the case we can rent a room from the building owner. The cost is $250 and includes access for the band, tables/chairs for them to eat/break, and close access to the restrooms. Please email us for more details.
